What are we going to do today Ferb?

This question sparks all of the excitement that occurs on the animated show, Phineas and Ferb that was created for Disney by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh.  This show was created for children, but adults can easily enjoy it; I think it is even more enjoyed by adults than the small children for which it was created.  This show combines witty humor and crazy inventions as well as catchy and fun musical numbers of a grand scale in order to entertain.  The premise of the show is that Phineas and Ferb are two young boys who are out of school for 104 days of summer.  Every day, they must come up with some sort of exciting invention or task with which to occupy themselves.  Every one of their inventions is epic in scale and proportion.  For instance, they created a giant roller coaster that spiraled through the entire city of Danville.  They have gone to the moon and to other various locations around the world in order to fill their summer days with fun.
In addition to Phineas and Ferb, there are many other characters on the show that contribute to the storyline.  For example, Candace is the boys’ sister, and her main goal is to bust the boys and basically rat them out to their mom.  Candace is determined in her pursuit, but every time she tries to bust the boys, she is not successful because the awesome invention or creation disappears before she can show mom. In addition to Candace, the Fireside Girls, led by Isabella, help Phineas and Ferb to accomplish their goals.  Baljeet and Buford, a nerd and bully, respectively, are also along for the ride and add to the comedy of the show.  Now, all of these characters and their exploits are part of the A plot for the show.  This is all very entertaining, but the true joy in the show comes from the B plot.
Agent P!!  Perry the Platypus is Phineas and Ferb’s pet, and as they describe, he doesn’t really do much.  However, they do not know that Perry is actually a secret agent who is locked in epic battle with the nefarious Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.  The good doctor is always trying to destroy, change, do something to cause havoc in the Tri-State Area.  Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz have a love-hate relationship in which they attempt to destroy each other but will also help each other out of tough situations.  There are many other characters that contribute to the B plot such as Carl and Major Monogram as well as the robot, Norm.
This show is hilarious, and my brief description does not do it justice.  I have watched every episode of the show as well as the movie, and I could not stop laughing.  In addition to all of the jokes, each episode is also full of fantastic musical numbers that support the A or the B plot.   For example, there are songs entitled, “Squirrels in My Pants,” “Norm the Robot’s Rap about Being a Real Boy,” and “The Backyard Beach,” just to name a few.  If you have not taken the time to watch this show, you need to do so if you want to laugh uncontrollably.
Because Phineas and Ferb are very popular characters, they will be hosting this summer’s castle show at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom in Florida.  This show will use the technology of the “Magic, the Memories, and You,” in order to project exciting summer fun on Cinderella Castle as well as It’s a Small World in California.  In addition to this appearance in the parks, Agent P is taking over Kim Possible’s job as protector of the World Showcase in Epcot.  Details are still forthcoming about this project, but it should be ready early this summer.
Merchandise related to this show can also be seen in the theme parks.  Many t-shirts, plush, and hats have been created to promote these characters; however, as a fan, I want to see more of these items.  Overall, this show is currently my favorite, and if you want to brighten your day and laugh yourself silly, you should watch Phineas and Ferb!  Until next time, have a magical day, and keep moving forward!

This is pure joy!  Notice my Agent P hat and Agent P temporary tattoo!
